For both day laborers and skilled laborers, safety is a major concern. Accidents occur regularly in the construction industry each year, and many of them are caused by the lack of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) or the failure to wear the PPE issued. PPE is personal protective equipment that protects employees from health and safety hazards on the job.
When engineering and administrative controls are not feasible or efficient in minimizing these risks to appropriate levels, the aim is to minimize employee exposure to hazards. Wet floors, falling debris, and all in between are examples of hazard risks. Protective helmets, eye protection, high-visibility clothing, safety boots, safety harnesses, and, in some cases, respiratory protective equipment are all examples of PPE.
It is important to use personal protective equipment (PPE) and to wear it appropriately in the workplace to prevent accidental injury. Choosing not to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) can be risky, particularly when it could save your life.
